The pattern has been developed based on historical reconstruction.

Material: 100% linen. Knitted and dyed in Hungary, thanks to our partnership with the last remaining domestic factory.

The robe’s decoration and embroidery are inspired by an Avar-period bronze artefact featuring an eye motif: a bronze terminal fitting discovered in Cikó, Tolna County, Hungary.

Creating a single kaftan/robe requires more than 20 hours of work and can involve up to 600,000 machine stitches, all preceded by meticulous historical research. Every detail of this exceptional garment reflects the care and dedication invested in its creation. When designing our kaftans, we paid particular attention to the interpretation of historical motifs, richly detailed machine embroidery, and finely crafted details.

About the motif:

The eye motif remains one of the most prominent and enduring decorative elements in contemporary Hungarian folk ornamentation, appearing in hundreds of different forms and variations. Its origins can be traced back thousands of years, to the pre-Christian era, when it may already have lost its symbolic meaning and served purely as an ornamental design.
