The kaftan pattern was developed based on historical reconstruction. During the design process, we paid particular attention to the careful interpretation of historical motifs, elaborate machine embroidery, and meticulously crafted details. Creating a single kaftan or robe requires more than 20 hours of work, preceded by extensive historical research. The intricate machine embroidery can consist of up to 600,000 stitches. Each piece represents a contemporary reinterpretation of historical heritage.

The linen fabric is produced in Hungary, where both the knitting and dyeing processes take place. This is made possible through our partnership with the last remaining domestic factory of its kind, helping to preserve and carry forward Hungary’s textile manufacturing traditions.

About the Motif:

The lion is a symbol of royal authority and also appears in the stories of Hungarian folklore (the tree reaching to the sky, the celestial lion). The lions standing before the Tree of Life, depicted in the frescoes dating from the reign of Béla III in the Royal Castle Chapel of Esztergom, represent power of heavenly origin, enclosed within a circle symbolizing infinity. Originally, 14 lions were depicted on the walls, while the 15th was the king himself during the coronation ceremony.
